Friday Night Legends
Game Recap – 3rd Quarter
Friday Night Legends is a football board game that uses actual team statistics, play calling and some luck to determine the outcome – kind of like real life! In this series, we will take some of these great teams we have compiled and give you a write-up of how the two played using Friday Night Legends.
2015 Arygle Eagles (14-2) vs 2017 Wimberley Texans (13-2)
Argyle began the second half with a great kick off return out to their 47 yard line. The jinx remained on the Eagles however. The third-quarter started the way the other two had when Argyle was called for another 15 yard personal foul killing their drive and forcing a punt.
Wimberley began with 10:40 to go in the quarter at their own 28 yard line. The Wimberley drive appeared to stall… until once again, Argyle was called for a 15 yard penalty handing the Texans another first down. Despite the gift, Wimberley ended up punting a few plays later and Argyle took over at their own 9 yard line.
Pinned deep in their territory didn’t seem to affect them as a quick screen pass to the 42 caused the Eagles’ spirits to soar. If they could turn this drive into points, they would have themselves a game. It looked as though Argyle was going to cap a 91 yard drive with a score but instead we’re picked off at the goal line to crush the spirits of Eagle fans.
The Texans wasted no time in driving the length of the field to score again with 1:50 remaining in the quarter. At 34 – 7 Wimberley, it was certainly looking dark for Argyle.
And just as Argyle fans were starting to pack up to leave the stadium, The kick returner grabbed the ball and his own 6 and raced 94 yards for the score. This cut the lead to 34 – 14 Wimberley.
With the next drive, Wimberley was unable to make any headway and punted the ball away to end the quarter.
2017 Wimberley 34, 2015 Argyle 14
