With all the feedback we have been getting, there have been a few questions on how to handle interceptions.
Here is the sequence of events.
- Big Play (Def) comes up with an Interception
- Look on the X Chart for INT (thrown) — Roll the d20 and check the chart. That is how far the ball was thrown down the field at the point of the interception.
- Look on the X Chart for INT RET — Roll the d20 and check the chart. That is how far the ball is returned.
Example — A roll of 6 on the INT (thrown) shows that the ball is thrown 10 yards downfield. A roll of 17 on the INT RET shows that the ball was returned 25 yards (that is from the point where the defensive player caught it.)
So. if the offense was at their own 30 yard line, the ball would have been thrown to the 40 and returned to the 15.
My only question concerns rolling “out of bounds” on the white die to check for a penalty on the board. Are the instructions on the board only for the “out of bounds” roll? There are options to take an out of bounds with -5 yards from results or not take it with the -5 yds from result. Is the option to use out of bounds only available if it was rolled with the white die on initial roll? Or can you use it an any time? Thanks
